Indian Roots, California Wings

Hello!

My name is Sujana Patel. I am a new Real Estate Agent in California and have worked in marketing for many years across different industries, which I have thoroughly enjoyed. Outside of that, I am on a mission to travel as much as possible - most determined of those travels is to visit all 50 states in the United States of America. I am close, oh so close. There are many reasons why I’m keeping my blog, but here are a few of them:

  • I really enjoy what I do - I am a South Bay local. Who doesn’t like driving through the Palos Verdes peninsula or taking a beautiful beach walk in Redondo Beach, or the cafes in Hermosa Beach, the Skechers Fireworks in Manhattan Beach, our beach cities offer prime locations for Real Estate. And, of course, there is the economic engine of the region, housing major tech and aerospace headquarters (like SpaceX and Northrup Grumman) from Torrance to El Segundo to Hawthorne and even Gardena, there is so much to do and eat here.

  • Who doesn’t like to travel? It is such a cliche. I get it! But, then my experience is my very own - plus I have not documented by 50 state visits and the number of state Capitol buildings I’ve been to so I thought this might be a way to do that. Hope it will be a fun read.

  • Being a woman and - even more so - a woman of color comes with a lot of stories. Having a sense of humor gets me through most of them. But, when you are the only brown person in a large video conference call, and someone turns to you when technology "doesn't work," it's not that funny. I am not IT. I can help, yes, but that's because in all my life I was taught to not give up. I also don't see why I get called out for being assertive, but if I were a man I would be called strong, courageous, perhaps even a leader.

  • Mostly because anything public is hard for me. As women, we prefer our work to speak for itself, so we wait to get discovered. But that wait is sometimes a long one. And, guess what? No one really gets anything done by remaining in their comfort zone. So, here I am experimenting and taking my own advice.

Tell me what you think by getting in touch or sending me a message.
