The name Golden Hills comes from a classic mix of California geography, climate, and real estate marketing.

Before the area was developed into residential streets, these rolling coastal bluffs were covered in wild mustard and native California grasses. During the dry summer and fall months, the hills turned a brilliant, shimmering sun-baked golden color. When the sun set over the Pacific, it illuminated the hillsides in a bright golden hue.
